The ATR-72 is a regional turboprop aircraft manufactured by ATR. It first flew in 1988. The aircraft has a capacity of up to 78 passengers and can be used for short- and medium-haul flights. The ATR-72 is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW100 turboprop engines, which allow it to reach a maximum speed of around 509 kilometres per hour and a maximum range of approximately 1,665 kilometres. The aircraft has a high-lift wing, which allows it to operate from short and unpaved airfields. The ATR-72 is used for regional flights around the world.
