The Churchill was a British heavy tank, named after Winston Churchill, used during World War II. It had strong armour protection, but its mobility and speed were limited. It was armed with a 75mm gun and a pair of machine guns, and there were various versions, including airborne and bridge vehicles. Its greatest weakness was reliability and high fuel consumption. The Churchill became an iconic symbol of the British effort to fight Nazi Germany and was widely deployed in battles on the Western Front. A total of 5,640 Churchill tanks were produced in various versions. After World War II, the Churchill tank was retired from active service and replaced by more modern tanks.
