Dassault Rafale
The Dassault Rafale is a French multirole fighter aircraft developed by Dassault Aviation. The aircraft was first introduced in 1986, entered service with the French Air Force in 2004, and is currently also used by the Navy and many other countries. The Rafale is designed as a multirole, high survivability aircraft that can be deployed in many different roles, including air combat, reconnaissance, strategic bombing, anti-surface operations and anti-submarine warfare. The aircraft is capable of carrying a wide range of weapons, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, laser-guided bombs and nuclear weapons. The Rafale is powered by two Snecma M88-2 spray-on engines, each with a thrust of 7.5 t. This allows it to reach a top speed in excess of Mach 1.8 and is capable of performing high-drag aerobatic manoeuvres. The Rafale is currently in service with the French Air Force and Navy, as well as the air forces of several other countries, including India and Egypt. The aircraft has been used in several war conflicts, including NATO operations in Kosovo, fighting in Afghanistan and against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
