Douglas DC-4
The Douglas DC-4 is a four-engine transport aircraft that was developed by the Douglas Aircraft Company in the late 1930s as a successor to the DC-3 type. The aircraft first flew in 1942 and was used as a military transport aircraft during World War II under the designation C-54 Skymaster. After the war, the DC-4 was modified for civilian use and was produced until 1947. 1,163 Douglas DC-4s were produced. Today, several DC-4s are still in service as historic aircraft, such as at airshows.
