The F-4F Wildcat was an American fighter aircraft with good manoeuvrability and strong armament, deployed mainly during World War II. It was powered by a radial engine, had a fixed undercarriage and was equipped with machine guns and cannons. In total, more than 7,800 F-4F Wildcat and derivative versions were produced. It was a successful aircraft in combat in the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East, and was gradually replaced by more modern aircraft types. It was also produced in Canada under the designation Grumman G-36A.
