Hawker Siddeley HS121 Trident 1E was a British short range transport aircraft produced in the 1960s. With a length of approximately 37 metres and a wingspan of around 29 metres, it could carry up to 180 passengers in single class or 125 in two classes. It was powered by three reliable Rolls-Royce Spey 512-14DW jet engines. The Trident 1E was used for short and medium haul routes in Europe and competed with aircraft such as the Boeing 727 and Douglas DC-9. It was gradually phased out during the 1970s and 1980s, when it was replaced by more modern aircraft.
