Kawasaki C-1
The Kawasaki C-1 is a Japanese military transport aircraft developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The C-1 entered service in 1974, replacing the older Lockheed C-130 and NAMC YS-11 transport aircraft. The C-1 is a medium-sized, twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a high cargo capacity. It is capable of carrying up to 5,000 kg of cargo over a distance of up to 3,000 km. The C-1 can be equipped with various configurations to carry cargo, including pallets, containers, vehicles or up to 88 troops. The C-1 is powered by two 4,000-hp Ishikawajima-Harima F3-IHI-30 turboprop engines. The aircraft can reach speeds of up to 540 km/h and altitudes of up to 9,000 metres. The C-1 is equipped with advanced avionics and can be fitted with various sensors for reconnaissance tasks. The C-1 has been exported to several countries, including Thailand and Indonesia. In Japan, it became the basis for the development of other types of aircraft, such as the Kawasaki C-2, a larger and more advanced version of the C-1 with greater cargo capacity and range. The C-1 is still in service with the Japanese Air Force and Navy and will remain in service until at least 2035.
