Kawasaki T-4
The Kawasaki T-4 is a trainer jet aircraft that was developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). The aircraft entered service in 1988, replacing the older Lockheed T-33 and Fuji T-1 trainers. The T-4 was designed as a high-performance aircraft, capable of performing demanding maneuvers such as rollovers, looping, and straight-pitch takeoffs. It has advanced avionics and can be equipped with a variety of sensors and weapons, allowing it to also perform tasks such as reconnaissance, fire control, or attacks on ground targets. The T-4 is powered by two Ishikawa-Harima TF40-IHI-801A jet engines, which allow it to reach speeds of up to 890 km/h and altitudes of up to 13,700 metres. The aircraft can carry up to 3,000 kg of armament, including various types of bombs and missiles. The Kawasaki T-4 was very successful in Japan and became the basis for the development of other types of aircraft, such as the Mitsubishi F-2 and Kawasaki C-2 fighter aircraft. The T-4 is also used in the civilian sector, for example as an aerobatic aircraft and for training private pilots.
