L-1011 TriStar
The L-1011 TriStar was a tri-engine wide-body aircraft developed by Lockheed Corporation in the 1970s. This aircraft was designed to compete with the successful Boeing B747 and Douglas DC-10. The TriStar had innovative design and technological solutions, such as a flight control system using computers or the use of two engines for taxiing at the airport. The aircraft was produced in various versions, including versions for passenger, cargo or military use. The TriStar was a popular aircraft among airlines around the world, but was eventually surpassed by competing models due to high production and maintenance costs. The last TriStar was produced in 1983 and is currently no longer in airline service.
