L-188 Electra
The L-188 Electra was a twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft manufactured by Lockheed from 1957 to 1961. The aircraft was designed for short- and medium-haul operations and was used to transport passengers and cargo. The L-188 Electra was the first aircraft to use turboprop engines with counter-rotating propellers, which allowed it to reach speeds of up to 650 km/h (650 mph) and achieve excellent performance on short runways. The aircraft had a capacity of up to 98 passengers and could also be used as a cargo aircraft with a payload of up to 11,340 kg. Over the years, a total of 170 L-188 Electra aircraft were produced for various transport companies, government agencies and military units. The aircraft has been in service around the world and has also served as a transport aircraft for many well-known personalities, including U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.
