The Lockheed U-2 is a single-seat aircraft developed for high-altitude reconnaissance during the Cold War. It is capable of reaching altitudes of up to 70,000 feet, allowing it to overcome most defensive systems. It is equipped with state-of-the-art reconnaissance equipment, including cameras, radar and other sensors. It is still in active service with the U.S. Air Force and has been exported to other countries. The U-2 became famous after the Francis Gary Powers incident in 1960. In addition to reconnaissance, the aircraft was used for electronic warfare, for example in Afghanistan and Iraq.
