About Messerschmitt Bf-109:

The Bf 109 became known to the world through the Battle of Britain, where it gained a reputation as a very dangerous adversary. Further modifications were built during the war, with the Me 109 G-6 "Gustav" being one of the best. The first machines were delivered to the combat troops in 1942 and proved to be of great quality on the Eastern Front.

The Bf 109 first flew in 1935 and was developed in Willy Messerschmitt's design office. It featured a superb 12-cylinder in-line engine in a small airframe, which allowed for easy production and quick repairs. It was armed with two guns and two machine guns as standard. Throughout the war, it was the German Air Force's paterey and scored the most Allied aircraft kills.
