Mitsubishi F-2A
The Mitsubishi F-2A is a Japanese multirole fighter aircraft designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin as an upgraded version of the American F-16 Fighting Falcon. The F-2A entered service with the Japanese Air Force in 2007 and is designed to perform air superiority, patrolling, attacks on ground targets, and maritime operations. The aircraft has high maneuverability and is equipped with advanced avionics, radar system and weapons system. The F-2A is powered by twin F110-GE-129 jet engines and has a top speed of approximately Mach 2. Range and operational radio data are not disclosed, but the Japanese Ministry of Defense says the aircraft has sufficient range for operations over the ocean and over long distances from bases. A total of 94 F-2As have been produced for the Japanese Air Force.
