The North American RA-5C Vigilante was a reconnaissance aircraft developed for the United States Navy in the 1950s and 1960s. This supersonic aircraft served as an important reconnaissance tool during the Cold War and was deployed aboard aircraft carriers. With a top speed in excess of Mach 2, the RA-5C was capable of rapidly reaching its targets. The aircraft was equipped with a variety of sensors for intelligence gathering and operated with a crew of two. It was retired from active service in the 1980s.
