Information about the original:
The Opel Blitz was the main truck used by the German army in World War II. It was deployed in huge numbers on all fronts during the Second World War, earning the Blitz its rightful reputation as the workhorse and workhorse of the Wehrmacht. Thanks to the combination of its sturdy frame, robust fixed axle system with leaf springs and twin rear wheels, it could carry over 3 tonnes of payload. The 3.6 litre engine was easy to maintain and provided 75 horsepower. Due to its excellent flexibility, the Blitz served as a platform for the development of several special versions such as the Kfz. 385 "Tankwagen", which was used by the German Luftwaffe as the most common refuelling truck. In addition, the Blitz performed well in the field, allowing it to operate on emergency landing fields without the modified runways that were typical of bases in Africa and Russia during the war. The tanker version was fitted with a rear fuel tank with a pumping system, a streamlined canvas-roofed cabin and an exhaust silencer, which was also relocated to allow safe refuelling of aircraft.
