S-3B Viking
The S-3B Viking is an anti-submarine aircraft that was produced by Lockheed Martin for the US Navy. The aircraft was developed from the original S-3A model, which entered service in 1975. The S-3B Viking is a twin-engine aircraft with a high aspect ratio fuselage, which allows it to carry large amounts of fuel and weapons. It has the capacity for three crew members - pilot, copilot and sonar operator. The aircraft is equipped with advanced sensors and radars to detect and track submarines and other maritime targets. The S-3B Viking can carry a wide range of weaponry, including torpedoes, anti-submarine missiles and bombs. It also has the capability to conduct reconnaissance and provide tactical guidance for flight operations. The aircraft has been deployed in numerous conflicts, including the Persian Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. However, production of the aircraft was terminated in 2009 and the aircraft was permanently retired from US Navy service in 2016.
