Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw
The Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw is a historic American helicopter that was developed by the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in the mid-1940s. The H-19 was the first American helicopter capable of carrying more than 10 passengers or cargo weighing over 1,000 kg. The first flight took place in 1949. The helicopter is approximately 15 metres long, 4 metres high and the main rotor diameter is 17 metres. The maximum speed is approximately 210 km/h and the range is approximately 560 km. The helicopter is powered by a single Pratt & Whitney R-1340-57 engine of 600 kW and was produced in both military and civilian versions. The H-19 was used primarily for transporting troops and cargo, but also for rescue and firefighting missions. The helicopter was deployed in several war conflicts, including the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and in civilian areas such as oil exploration, transporting personnel and materials to remote areas, or for rescue and firefighting missions.
