Sukhoi Su-22
The Sukhoi Su-22 is a Soviet and Russian supersonic fighter-bomber, which was developed in the 1960s and 1970s as a replacement for the older Su-7 and MiG-21 aircraft. The aircraft was designed to be able to carry out tactical attacks on ground targets, as well as reconnaissance and combat with enemy aircraft. The Su-22 has a single turbojet engine and is capable of flying at speeds of up to 2,125 km/h at supersonic speed. The aircraft can carry a wide range of weapons, including bombs, rockets and guided missiles, which are launched from internal fuselage pylons and from external pylons under the wings. The Su-22 has been deployed in many conflicts, including the Afghan War, the Gulf War and the Yugoslav Wars. The aircraft was also used during combat in the 2014 conflict in Ukraine. The Russian Air Force still uses the Su-22, but in recent years it has been gradually replaced by more modern aircraft, such as the Su-34. The aircraft has also been exported to many countries around the world and is still in service with some foreign air forces, such as those of Poland, Hungary and Iran.
