Sukhoi Su-25 is a Soviet or Russian attack aircraft designed to support ground troops. It was developed in the 1970s and first flew in 1975. It is a relatively simple and reliable aircraft that is characterized by its great agility and ability to operate from unpaved airfields. The Su-25 has a trapezoidal wing, twin engines on the lower fuselage and a distinctive cockpit extending above the canopy. It has the ability to carry a wide range of weapons, including missiles, bombs, machine guns and cannons. The aircraft can operate in a variety of climates and is capable of both day and night missions. The Su-25 has been a highly successful aircraft in several conflicts, including the Soviet war in Afghanistan and the first and second Gulf wars. It has also been used in many other conflicts in Asia and Africa. Today, the Su-25 is still in active service in several countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia.

Czechoslovakia acquired its first Su-25 in 1984, and additional aircraft were delivered between 1985 and 1989. The Su-25 served in the Czechoslovak Air Force as an attack aircraft and was deployed during the fighting in Yugoslavia in 1999. Lieutenant Colonel Colonel Ing. František Tabačko was a Czech military pilot who served in the Czechoslovak and later Czech Air Force. Lt. Col. Tabačko was born in 1952 and graduated from the Military Aviation Academy in Košice in 1977. During his career he flew various types of aircraft, including MiG-21 and Su-25. In 1988 he was transferred to Su-25 attack aircraft and served in this role until the end of his military career. During his time with the Czechoslovak and Czech Air Forces, he received numerous awards and decorations. After retiring from military service in 2001, Colonel Tabachko worked in the private sector and also served as an aviation consultant. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 65.
