Barrel Aviation SE-210
The Sud Aviation SE-210, also known as the Caravelle, was a French short and medium range transport aircraft produced in the 1950s and 1960s. It was the first jet transport aircraft in Europe to be designed specifically for short- and medium-haul operations. The Caravelle was first introduced in 1955 and was in production until 1973. The aircraft was very popular in Europe and was used by both civilian and military operators. It was capable of carrying up to 128 passengers and had a range of up to 3,500 km. The Caravelle also pioneered several technological innovations, such as landing brakes located under the fuselage, which allowed for a shorter braking distance on landing. The aircraft also had landing gear that could retract into the fuselage, which reduced air resistance and improved aerodynamics. In total, more than 280 Caravelle aircraft were produced and served in various airlines around the world.
