T-6 Texan
The T-6 Texan, also known as the SNJ in naval service, was an American two-seat trainer aircraft produced between 1938 and 1945. This aircraft was used as a basic trainer in the United States Navy, Army, and Air Force, as well as in many other countries around the world. The T-6 Texan was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney R-1340 piston engine, rated at 600 horsepower, and reached speeds of up to 335 km/h. It was armed with two machine guns of 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm calibre and could carry a bomb weighing up to 227 kg. This aircraft was extremely popular and was used extensively as a basic trainer during and after World War II. It was also used as an aerobatic aircraft and in competitions. The T-6 Texan was known for its reliability, ease of maintenance, and ease of handling. Today, many examples of the T-6 Texan are used in air shows around the world. In total, more than 15,000 T-6 Texans were produced in various versions.
