The Vickers VC-10 was a British transport aircraft that entered service in 1964. It was developed by Vickers-Armstrongs (later British Aircraft Corporation) as a long-range jet transport aircraft for both civil and military use. The VC-10 was known for its distinctive tail shape, which included two engines mounted on top of the tail. The aircraft was popular for its high speed and ability to perform short-runway operations, which was useful for flights into hot climates and airfields with limited resources. The military version of the VC-10 served as a tanker and military transport until 2013. A total of 54 VC-10 aircraft were produced.
